Some mobile phones have no pre-installed Hindi fonts. While browsing Bengali sites, we have to face much problem. Learn how to read Hindi fonts on web pages with
STEPS:
- Download Opera Mini from m.opera.com. It's a Java Application for browsing internet on mobile phones. If you have already downloaded & installed Opera Mini, start it & follow Step-3
- Install Opera Mini. After downloading you may find it 'Games' or 'Application' folder on your phone. Open/Start Opera Mini then it will require 'network access'. Grant access & it will be installed automatically after a few seconds. After a 'Getting Started' page loading press 'Accept' to start Opera Mini.
- Now press '#' button and then '1' to activate the adresse bar. Type
orabout:config
on 'Adress Bar'. Press 'OK' (middle soft key' to go to this address.config: - A page will be loaded named 'Power-User settings'. Go to bottom of the page by pressing & holding the button '8'.
- You will find an option named 'Use bitmap fonts for complex scripts'. Change the parametre to 'Yes' from 'No' & click on 'Save' button.
- Go to a Hindi site as http://www.google.com/m?hl=bn to check.
NOTE:
- If you have Opera Mini 4.2 , you need to set 'font size' to 'large' to view bitmap Hindi fonts. Press '#' and '8' to go to settings, select 'large' beside 'Font size' settings and press the 'Save' button.
- You should Exit properly from Opera Mini to save this settings. Select Menu>Exit to exit. If you exit with the end key of your phone, you may need to follow the steps again.
- Sometimes while browsing some Hindi blog site you may find that Opera Mini is not rendering Hindi fonts.
