Sony planning to release Dynamic Android Sensor HAL (DASH) as an open source to the developers

As technology is gaining popularity with many of them being open source technologies, another new step in the advancement is in the form of DASH. Today, we are going to throw light on the most recent framework for the sensor technology in the form of DASH.
So here it is.

DYNAMIC ANDROID SENSOR HAL (DASH) :-

Recently Sony has announced to release a sensor framework popularly known as DASH (Dynamic Android Sensor Hal) as an open source Github project by making it’s source code freely available .
The custom ROM developers will try to utilize the code and also the developers group may also contribute it back.

The sensor HAL is the software layer which gives direct access to the application sensor components using its interface.
DASH was introduced to use the same sensor HAL implementation across multiple devices and hardware components

By making it available on Github, the developers can create the App by utilizing the sensors in Xperia smartphones, which may be used to enable and disable many sensors simultaneously which includes accelerometer, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, magnetometer, gyroscope, and pressure sensor.
Sony has also promised to release more sensor codes in its new releases.

HOW CAN DASH BE DEFINED?
DASH is an Android Sensor HAL which implements scalability and configurability in its designing.
Its a generic framework that gives rights to the board configuration to decide which sensors to enable by reducing the cost of maintenance and integration.
DASH further adds functionality of adding the sensors at run time using registration calls.

KEY POINTS AND PROPERTIES:-
#Adding the sensors at run time , i.e., dynamic binding of sensors using registration calls.
#Designing will be done keeping in view the scalability, i.e., as further sensors will be invented, the software framework will provide space for those sensors also.
#DASH makes it easier to connect the sensors to fusion libraries.
#DASH provides options for the sensors to define its own configuration options.
# And most importantly, its open source which provides the developers and users a platform to build the framework by implementing innovative ideas into practice.

Hoping this framework and interface will help the future technologies to gain access to sensors more efficiently and upto the mark.
