Felt I would share a nifty trick I figured out since I wanted to download something form vimeo but it also works on youtube and probably other sites. This allows you to download flash videos / html5 videos from websites without addons.
Requirements: Firefox
1. Go to tools or firefox button, depending how you have firefox customized then -> Web Developer -> Web Console - Click the net tab
2. Refresh the page or change the quality of the video to your desired quality and the video will reload.
3. You should see some updates in the web console, you are looking for one of the updates that says "GET" one of these will be the direct link to the video. Simply copy the link, paste it in a new tab and you should get a direct download to the file.
4. Vimeo will directly download into mp4, on youtube it will download in an unknown format, simply rename it to mp4 and it will work with vlc.
Cheers.
Best part is: Fast downloads and NO ADDONS or sketchy websites.
This can also be sped up by making a greasemonkey script for it.
