Downloading & Installing the Appropriate Programs
You will first need to download two programs:
The WineBottler .dmg includes both the WineBottler program and Wine.
Note: The Winebottler .dmg includes both the WineBottler program and Wine.
To install WineBottler and Wine, drag the Wine and WineBottler icons into your Applications folder.
Creating the Mp3tag Prefix
The next step is to create the application file by using WineBottler.
Click on WineBottler in your Applications folder. The WineBottler icon looks like this:
When WineBottler opens up, click on the "Create Custom Prefixes" tab on the left hand side.
Click on the "Select File" button next to the "Install File" box, and select the mp3tag.exe that you downloaded.
Click on the "Install" button. Save the file as "Mp3tag" and select your Applications folder as the destination.
WineBottler will now go about creating the application. You should see a window from mp3tag asking about what language you would like to use after a couple of moments. Select your install language, and click next to agree to the EULA. On the next screen, deselect everything but Mp3tag; you don't need any of the shortcuts or anything since the program will be running inside OS X.
After that screen, click next through the rest of the windows, and the "Finish" when Mp3tag is done installing. WineBottler will then ask you for a startfile. It is important that you select "Program Files/Mp3tag/Mp3tag.exe"
You will then get a message that the prefix has been created successfully.
Congratulations! You're not done installing the program. Just click on the Mp3tag application in your Applications window to run it!
Replacing the Low Resolution Icon
The icon that comes with Mp3tag is low resolution and therefore not very attractive. The following steps will show you how to replace the icon with a more attractive, higher resolution one.
First, find an image that is higher resolution, like this one.
Click on the downloaded image and open it in Preview. Command+A while focused on the Preview window to select the entire image, and Command+C to copy it.
Now go to your Applications folder and control click the Mp3tag application that you created and select "Get Info"
The "Get Info" window will now come up. Click on the icon next to the name of Mp3tag in the "Get Info" window, and Command+V to change the icon to the new one.
Before:
After:
The icon is now changed to the new image.
Extra Notes
As far as I can tell so far, the "alt" key does not work within Mp3tag. This means you will have to go to the menu in order to use the functions that have "alt" in them.
