Getting started with XDCC

Ahh yes, the wonderful world of XDCC. For those of you who don't know what XDCC is, here's a definition from Wikipedia:

Basically, it's just another great way to get files without seeding. Someone introduced me to it the other day on the TPS IRC channel and I love it now.

Setting mIRC up for XDCC:

In order to setup your client for XDCC, you need to change a few settings inside of mIRC.

Make your ignore settings look like that.

Make your DCC settings look like that.

Setting up a XDCC script:

First, you're going to need to get this script: http://www.mirc.net/projects.php?go=1063381627

Download it and move all the files into the folder it tells you to in the readme.

Next, open up a server window and type,

This will now load the script.

Finding XDCC channels:

Go to a site like, http://www.xdccreport.com/ and type in what you're looking for. This will now return back a list of channels that have it. Connect to the IRC channel.

How to get pack lists:

In order to get the packs, you're going to need to execute this command:

And put in each of the bots (They usually have & power).

Getting the file:

First, go to Commands, and look for XDCC Browser. Click that and then click Browser. You're going to need to wait for a few mins while the list of packs and stuff is listed.

Once you see a pack you want, double click the name of it and then accept the file from the bot.

That's all there is to it :D

XDCC is great fun and I'm using it all the time now. Post any questions and or comments and I'll help you
