Basic Tips For Invision Script

Lots of Folks use Invision Script and do not know how to use some of the basic features that will make their irc experience more enjoyable.

To Start Out we will use the Main Settings window and cover some of the tools there. Then on to personalization and the Acromancer.

Main Settings

Step 1: At the Top of the scripts window click on the word Invision You will see a Drop down menu. (I have a few added scripts for my personal use at the bottom of the list so this wont look exactly like your list but other wise the preview is current)

Step 2: Click on Main Settings on drop down list. (A New window opens up with Tabs looks like Preview below)

*Note Most of the settings can be used for global use but some times you have to set them up by server So once you get done on J3di click on any other network IRC you are on and go through same process)

General Tab:

1. Lag Monitor: This gives you your lag in seconds (ping reply where the IRC server sends a ping to your ISP to test how long it takes for it to answer back)

2. Nickname: This is where you put your most used Nick for the particular IRC Server

3. Titlebar: this will set what you see at the top of your script

** Just Incase you haven't Noticed the active help at the bottom gives you generally what each section does if you hover your mouse over the words**

4. Options: As you can see I use very few options here Generally I use Aimp for mp3 now playing and the others are not used often. So I recommend you just use the Stealth Mode and Part Channels for Nick Regain.

5. Miscellaneous: As you see I have a few things marked here the one I would not mark generally is the Enabled Seen The rest is pretty much optional all though the Leave weak side of split is a good option to enable.

The other features is for more of a Bot script not a general chat script. What is important to remember is that Invision was designed for chatting and to be run as a bot script (as in running a Fserv on irc channels designed for such use)

Color Tab:

I think is self explanitory the only thing is the enable speech color be careful that channel lets you post colors if not you may get banned from the channel. And the Script colors is for things like fserv announcing, Posting system information and MP3 Play back information into the channel.

Filtering & Nickserv Tab:

As you notice I do not have any of the top section ticked If I was on any larger networks I would enable some of these. (Unless I was staff on the network as you may have to help someone not in a channel you are in and you can't see their PM if they are not in a channel you was in)
Trusted Nicknames section is if the server you are on has custom botserv nicks I have been on a few that have used custom nicks for chanserv and some other irc services nicks.

Nickserv Auto Respond One of the handiest tools in the Main Settings this is where you can set up your auto Identify you can see the options I have selected.

Protection Tab:

Mass Flood Protection: you do not need enabled unless you are a channel operator or Server staff.

User Flood Protection: I have Just CTCP and Invite checked and will basically do what you need.

Self Scans and Logging: I have these Unchecked because as I said in the beginning I use a lot of custom scripts that I add on to Invision.

Scanned Ports: I leave unchecked also I had a friend who freaked because they was enabled and he thought that the script was attacking his system.

Channel Ops Tab:

As you can see I have just one feature enabled here.

Adv. Tab:

This is where you set your Times Stamp format in Invision you see how mine is set this is the resulting outcome of my settings [Mon :02 :28 :02a]

If you use seen feature you have to tell the script who you wish to track here

the rest of the settings are default.

Additional Settings Tab:

Now this is where you add a few finishing touches if you connect to more than one network you have this handy tool to set up all your networks you wish to join at start up of the script.

Also for Ops Default Ban type

Default for where notices will appear. and if you want the traytips to be enabled

Now on to another section

Personalization

Most of the Personalization section is fairly easy once you know where to find it and there is a help tab that gives general instructions so I will do an over view.

Step 1: At the Top of the scripts window click on the word Invision You will see a Drop down menu. (I have a few added scripts for my peronal use at the bottom of the list so this wont look exactly like your list but other wise the preview is current)

Step:2 Click on Personalization on drop down menu. (See Preview below)

Kicks Tab: this is where you can put up to 6 personal Kick messages.

Info Tab: This is where you post specific info about your computer and internet connection, and other personal contack information.

Wordwatch tabs 1-3: These Tabs are where you can put specific words or phrases that are auto kicks (such as will trade for, Can I have an invite to. or a naughty word list) You can have up to 9 different words or phrases. (this is an channel operator feature only)

Responders Tab: (Again this is for folks who get auto voiced / oped some people and channels prefer this to be disabled. but can be a bit of fun to do a custom op/voiced message if allowed.

Last area of Note:

Acromancer (Abbreviation Manager)

Now I know some folks are not like me but I have a ton of abbreviations I utilize (some are just commonly misspelled words)

Step 1: At the Top of the scripts window click on the word Invision You will see a Drop down menu. (I have a few added scripts for my peronal use at the bottom of the list so this wont look exactly like your list but other wise the preview is current)

Step:2 Click on Acromancer on drop down menu. (See Preview below)

To use this feature click Enable Acromancer at top of Invision Acromancer window.

To add new abbreviations click add new a window comes up and ask what the abbreviation is you want to input (for example if you wanted to type cul8r for see you later you type in first window cul8r then hit enter and new window comes up asking for the phrase which you would input see you later and click enter)

click apply to save new abbreviation

You may add colors to abbreviations using the ctrl and K keys also same with bold ctrl b underline ctrl u (keep in mind some channels do not like colors. one way to protect yourself is right click in channel and click block color codes to channel this way you can do colors and use them in the channels that do not mind the color codes)

Once you have finished adding abbreviations click apply one last time and then click OK
