Eac3to ( demuxing and audio encoding ) : http://www.videohelp.com/tools/eac3to

WARNING :
- Handbrake can’t handle Interlaced VC-1 sources.
- If you wan’t to encode a source which has only DTS-HD audio, you cannot do this with Handbrake alone, you’ll need eac3to as well.

Ripping a Bluray
- You can rip Blurays to computer with makeMKV and AnyDVD HD
- If you download a source, be sure it's not VC-1 AND Interlaced. If it is, Handbrake can't encode it.

576p Encode
1. Adjust Picture settings : In the Picture Tab, set anamorphic to none, check ‘keep aspect ratio’, modulus to 2 see here and resize to 576p standards. That is 1024x___ for widescreen or ___x576 for fullscreen. If your bitrate is too high at this resolution, you can alternatively use 480p standards. That is 854x___ for widescreen, ___x480 for fullscreen.

2. Check reference frames : For a 576p Encode, use ref=14 as a maximum.

3. Main Audio : It is not appropriate to preserve the DTS audio track, due to bitrate. You have to encode it down to AC3 (448 kbps), to give priority to video bitrate on SD encodes.

4. How to encode HD-Audio to AC3
A. Install eac3to.exe
B. Download Arcsoft DTS decoder and follow the instructions.
C. Open up command prompt ( run : cmd)
D. "C:/Path/for/eac3to.exe" "Path/of/your/BMDV/or/Remux" & press Enter
E. Deduct which audio stream you need and use the number eac3to gives you for that track.
F. When you have a DTSHD track, Type in the same formula as D, add x:audio.ac3 -448 (x being the number of your audiotrack)
G. When you have TrueHD track with AC3core, type in the same formula as D, add x:audio.ac3 -core (x being the number of your audiotrack)

In these pictures i've encoded the TrueHD Audiotrack to ac3 at 448 kbps

For those that prefer a GUI, get Clown BD. You'll still need to install eac3to.exe & The Arcsoft DTS Decoder and allocate it in Clown BD

High Definition

720p

1. Adjust Picture settings : In the Picture Tab, set anamorphic to none, check ‘keep aspect ratio’ and resize to 720p standards. That is 1280x___ for widescreen or ___x720 for fullscreen.

2. Bitrate : A normal 720p videobitrate is somewhere between 5000 and 7000 kbps.

3. Main Audio : If there’s an AC3 or DTS audiotrack available, just use passthru on this. If there’s nor AC3 nor DTS but there is a DTS-HD stream, you can use eac3to to re-encode the DTS-HD stream to AC3 (640 kbps) or extract the DTScore from the DTSHD. Don’t convert the DTS-HD stream to AC3 with Handbrake, Handbrake will just re-encode the DTS core which is lossy. Lossy to lossy wil result in a lot of quality loss and may result to Audio/Video sync issues.

4. How to extract AC3 or DTS core from HD Audio
A. Install eac3to.exe
B. Download Arcsoft DTS decoder and follow the instructions.
C. Open up command prompt ( run : cmd)
D. "C:/Path/for/eac3to.exe" "Path/of/your/BMDV/or/Remux" & press Enter
E. Deduct which audio stream you need and use the number eac3to gives you for that track.
F. - When you have a DTSHD track, Type in the same formula as D, add x:audio.dts -core (x being the number of your audiotrack)
- When you have TrueHD track with AC3core, type in the same formula as D, add x:audio.ac3 -core
- When you want to re-encode to AC3@640kbps, type in the same formula as D, add x:audio.ac3 -640

1080p

1. Adjust Picture settings : In the Picture Tab, set anamorphic to none, check ‘keep aspect ratio’ and resize to 1080p standards. That is 1920x___ for widescreen or ___x1080 for fullscreen.

2. Bitrate : A normal 1080p videobitrate is somewhere between 8000 and 12000 kbps.

3. Main Audio : Either use the HD audio and passthru or extract the core from the HD Audio.

4. How to extract core from HD Audio
A. Install eac3to.exe
B. Download Arcsoft DTS decoder and follow the instructions.
C. Open up command prompt ( run : cmd)
D. "C:/Path/for/eac3to.exe" "Path/of/your/BMDV/or/Remux" & press Enter

- When you have TrueHD track with AC3core, type in the same formula as D, add x:audio.ac3 -core
